The Orangina brand owner, Netherlands-based Schweppes International Limited, signed a deal with ICP subsidiary Multinational Food & Beverage Corporation for this concession, ICP said in a statement.
MFB will market the brand in Vietnam and nine other Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei, Myanmar, Indonesia, Cambodia and Laos.
The deal will be valid for 10 years. The statement doesn’t mention the value of the licence. However, a report by The Saigon Times Daily has quoted ICP general director, Le Trung Thanh, as saying his company did not have to pay for the exclusive right.
Orangina was first introduced in Vietnam in 1993 by BGI, a French brewery company. However, BGI transferred the right to Australian Foster’s Group in 1994, according to ICP.
