Waldquelle chief Herbert Czech attributed the 2010 turnover increase to hot weather in July, Waldquelle’s presence in 97% of food stores and increased TV advertising.??
He said he expected turnover to increase by another five per cent this year if the ‘weather god’ co-operated with the firm to rise its percentage of market share at food stores to 20%, up from 19.8% last year and from 12.4% in 2004.?
Czech also claimed last year’s results solidified Waldquelle’s position as Austria’s second strongest mineral water brand after Vöslauer and ahead of third ranking Römerquelle, claiming that his firm had been the only one to have grown steadily during the last six years.
Market-research firm Nielsen has reported that the average increase in mineral water firms’ turnover last year was a paltry 0.2%.??Waldquelle has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Czech market leader Carlsbader Mineralbrunnen (Karlovarske Mineralny vody) since the end of 2008.?Carlsbader, in turn, is owned by the Italian-Swiss Pasquale family.
