The cereal producer plans to use web3 eSourcing to ramp up its programme of tenders and electronic auctions, improving the way in which it identifies, qualifies and negotiates with its supplier network.
From almonds to wheat and everything in between, supplier selection will be based on stringent criteria, including quality of service, delivery and price. And unlike in many organisations where electronic sourcing remains the sole preserve of the central procurement team, Weetabix is hoping to devolve the use of sourcing to other users within the business.
Anthony Bowdidge, head of procurement at Weetabix, said: “The highly intuitive nature of the web3 tool makes it simple to roll out to people in the business that are not professional purchasers. As a result, they can exploit the efficiency gains and cost savings that a sourcing and negotiation tool drives, taking some of the pressure off the procurement team, while we can be sure that results are captured and process is followed.”
Wax Digital web3 eSourcing was selected following an exhaustive review against its incumbent Ariba platform. The final decision was made unanimously across the sourcing and purchasing team at Weetabix, with web3 comprehensively outscoring Ariba for its ease of use, cost-effectiveness and intuitive feature set.
The decision also means that Weetabix, which is already a Wax Digital customer for web3 Purchase-to-Pay, can now enjoy a single source-to-pay process right from supplier selection through to matched invoice.
“We would have purchased web3 eSourcing as an excellent standalone tool for the business, but when combined with the Wax Digital P2P solution, we can now take advantage of a fully integrated approach right through the purchasing lifecycle,” said Anthony Bowdidge. “web3 eSourcing has paid for itself in a matter of weeks, and we’re very excited now about the transformative potential of a source-to-pay solution to help drive real efficiencies and cost savings across the business, without comprising on quality.”
