The Water Quality Association (WQA) showed a strong hand with a series of talks, awards and new member nominees.
The association faces a number of issues over the next period, from technology changes, water scarcity, industry globalisation, sustainability and government regulation.
It believes Final Barrier technology will become a massive industry in the US alone, where people now consume 1,200 gallons of water a day.
Dar Watts from American Aqua Incorp said: “We now have a very diverse membership, which is fantastic for our future. We now need to align our goals and responsibilities. Educational excellence is our red-hot issue and we have a great new programme coming.”
The session also included a gift of appreciation for Peter Censky who has just retired after 25 years of service to the association.
There were also addresses from Theo Lingmont, director of international exhibitions at the RAI, and Denise Urbans, WQA president.
The exhibition hall opened soon after. Look out for a full roundup of innovations from the show to come.
The WQA Aquatech show is running until 9 March 2012 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
