Budweiser Budvar is set to launch a new 4% lager with a fuller, crisper feel – its first product innovation of the year.
The Kräusened lager follows a traditional finishing method for bohemian beers – unfiltered, unpasteurised and matured in Budweiser Budvar’s cellars in České Budějovice, Czech Republic. After conditioning, the brewers add some freshly fermenting Budvar original to kickstart a second fermentation process before it goes into kegs, the company explained.
In doing so the beer continues to ferment, adding a softer, natural carbonation and finishing drier and cleaner as the fresh yeast has its effect on the beer. The product will be launched on the occasion of The Casual Dining Show this week.
Budweiser Budvar UK sales director Simon George said: “2015 has been a strong year for Budweiser Budvar in the UK trade and we are confident that the addition of Kräusened lager strengthens our portfolio and provides a point of difference in 2016.
“The lager, which has a slight natural haze from the Kräusening technique, appeals to both the consumer interested in looking for crafted lagers as well as the beer connoisseur looking to enjoy another world-class product from the award-winning cellars of our Czech brewery.”
