Gruppo Campari has entered an exclusive distribution arrangement with the Chinese subsidiary of French cognac producer Camus.
Yuanliu International Trade Co will distribute the Italian group’s portfolio of brands in China from April, complementing Yuanliu’s existing line-up of premium products – including Glenrothes and Label 5 whiskies, and Chateau Laubade armagnac. The deal includes Campari’s flagship liqueur, as well as Cinzano and Wild Turkey bourbon.
The Taiwan-based distributor will also integrate Campari’s sales team in the region, strengthening its geographic presence across all regions of the Chinese market.
Yuanliu International was created in 2007 to grow Camus’ cognac brand in China, and has since grown to become a ‘significant distributor’ of premium spirits.
House of Camus owner and president Cyril Camus said: “We are very proud of our achievements in China, not only due to the growth of our own brands, but also for the confidence shown by our partners who have entrusted us with helping them grow their brands in the country.
“After completing a year of double-digit growth in 2016, our China subsidiary is extremely pleased to welcome the Campari brands and team members into its organisation, allowing it to offer the trade a complete range of world class products.”
And Gruppo Campari CEO Bob Kunze-Concewitz said: “We are very happy to enter into an exclusive distribution partnership with Yuanliu, a subsidiary of the French cognac House of Camus, for the very promising Chinese market. We believe that our brands, which are complementary to those currently distributed by Yuanliu, will accelerate growth in China thanks to a stronger combined portfolio in the capable hands of a professional local operator.”
