Flavours manufacturer McCormick has unveiled a series of 40 new products for the autumn, designed to help consumers prepare great-tasting meals at home.
Gourmet flavours inspired by Japanese and Korean cuisines, blends packed with ingredients like chia and matcha, and food colourings made from plants and seeds are just some of the products that will appear on store shelves this season.
“Between prepping back-to-school dinners, making cozy stews and gearing up for Thanksgiving and Christmas baking, fall is a busy time of year in the kitchen,” said Virginia Jordan, McCormick vice-president of marketing.
“McCormick is launching a range of purely delicious, quality products people can feel good about – whether they’re making tacos with an organic recipe mix made from natural herbs and spices or adding gingerbread spice to waffle batter on Christmas morning.”
The gourmet spice blends each contain between 25% and 50% chia, matcha or flax and can be used in dishes ranging from eggs and smoothies to fresh salsas and grilled chicken, McCormick said. They include a citrus chilli and garlic seasoning with chia, Italian seasoning with flaxseed, and matcha green tea seasoning with ginger.
In addition, gourmet Asian flavours like Japanese seven spice, Korean-style red pepper and Thai basil will help consumers in the US incorporate flavours from some of Asia’s most popular cuisines into their home cooking.
There is also new organic chicken, beef and vegetable stocks to bring deep, concentrated flavour to homemade soups, stews and sauces, while a new bone broth made from real chicken bones, organic vegetables, herbs and spices will offer a simple way to add protein to your diet.
Weeknight favourites such as zesty tacos and hearty chilli con carne will benefit from a four-flavour range of organic seasoning mixes: taco seasoning, brown gravy, chilli seasoning, and fajita seasoning.
McCormick’s black pepper takes on five different tastes, from mild and smoky to tangy and hot. They consist of chipotle, sriracha, smokehouse, Worcestershire and hot shot extra bold black pepper seasoning blends.
And finally, the Maryland-based manufacturer will release a suite of authentic Mexican and Latin American flavours, bring standout flavours to the dinner table with new varieties of McCormick Mayonesa and Lawry’s Casero Seasoning Blends.
They include jalapeño, chipotle and reduced-fat mayonnaise, and four seasoning mixes including Carne Asada, which captures the flavour of a popular dish of seared steak slices.
