PowWow Water goes into administration
It has been reported the office water cooler company PowWow was taken into administration on 25 March by Deloitte.
Cash flow problems were said to be the cause of PowWow’s demise, and rather than operating it as a going concern the decision was taken to close the firm, effective immediately.
PowWow Water, whose headquarters are in Oxfordshire, broke the news to its staff as they turned up for work.

The BWCA is disappointed at the collapse of a once thriving Powwow business, a company that entered the UK and brought with it drive, creativity and a dynamic approach to business. In particular, we’re sad to see the loss of over 300 jobs at a time when the economy is not in the best of health and opportunities are scarce. Many of the people who have lost their jobs have been friends and colleagues for many years. While we welcome the various offers of work to former Powwow staff, we would ask companies to ensure that the offers of employment are long-term opportunities and not designed to take advantage of people who have already suffered financial loss.
While many operators view the situation as a great opportunity to win customers, our view is that this unfortunate failure only further damages the long-term prospects and market stability of our industry. Fortunately, the BWCA has invested significantly in creative marketing and training that give our members a competitive advantage when providing a dual POU and bottled water strategy. Our members are ideally placed to help and assist Powwow customers and our association is already seen by thousands of Powwow customers as a ‘lifeboat’ in a troubled market who can supply either product. This sudden change in the market has only confirmed the need for companies to offer a comprehensive and full product range of both POU and bottled water coolers, which we’re delighted to say is provided by BWCA members. Wilkes Vending Services Ltd would like to speak to any ex-Powwow employees. We’re looking to assist in this difficult transition period. Wilkes Vending are committed to helping ex-Powwow customers who will no doubt be struggling to find bottled water providers. We are nationwide.

Tana Water is sorry to learn that many members of our industry have lost their jobs following the decision to place Powwow into administration. We’re also concerned that Powwow customers may be left high and dry right at the start of British summertime, when bottled water supplies come under most pressure.
While we recognise that bottled water has its place in the disaster recovery plans of businesses, this sad case highlights the risk of depending on bottled water deliveries to keep staff hydrated on a daily basis. Most environments can safely accommodate plumbed-in water coolers, which deliver a consistent and reliable supply of freshly filtered tap water all year round. We’ll be happy to help and advise any organisation that’s concerned about ensuring a consistent drinking water supply this summer.

It is very good to see how many companies are worried for all that poor customers. My regards are on companies who take care mostly to all employers who lost their job. Zerica is available to hire any salesman who could be interested to work with us.

Purely H2O have been shocked by the recent news of the downfall of Powwow. We’re sorry to hear that so many staff have been made redundant, following the decision to enter the company into administration. As a company, Purely H2O is concerned that many of Powwow’s customers haven’t been informed of the situation, and it is just becoming clear that the contracts between themselves and their customers will be voided.
We extend our service to all Powwow customers and will endeavour to help in any way to ensure your service requirements are met.

We are very sorry to hear of the redundancies that have resulted from Powwow going into administration, a move which has left both employees and customers at a loss. Most employees were left short of this month’s salary and no customers received any warning of the move. As an industry, we’re ashamed of the actions of the previous owners.
At The Water Delivery Company and The Water Cooler Company, we’ve aready hired many ex-Powwow drivers and engineers and are now helping to supply Powwow customers throughout the London area who have been left without access to bottled water or service for their mains-fed water coolers.
If you’re a Powwow customer in a similar position, please contact us and one of our team will be happy to help supply you with bottles of spring water immediately, and set up regular deliveries going forward. Likewise, if you’re a former Powwow employee, please contact us as we’re hoping to take on as many drivers and engineers to our operation as possible.

Thirsty 4 Water would like to take this opportunity to express their sadness in hearing of the termination of many jobs at Powwow Water Limited. After months of speculation, years of poor customer service and numerous shifts in ownership, Powwow have finally done the expected and passed their company on to the administrators.
I’m the head of Thirsty 4 Water, and welcome any calls to discuss what we can now do for you. I look forward to speaking to you, and wish all Powwow ex-employees the very best for the future. Simon Wilkes

Aqua Cure plc are very sorry to hear of the closure after a long trading realtionship with this business under this and previous trading titles. Particularly difficult for the long-serving staff who now find themselves unemployed. Aqua Cure are able to make the exclusive POU filter replacements available to the trade as required to service the ultimate customers’ machines.

After recent events, AquAid would like to wish all former Powwow employees the best of luck for the future. It appears many of the thousands of Powwow customers are still unaware of the company’s collapse, and will soon be faced with an ever increasing demand for water that simply won’t be delivered. To prevent this having an adverse effect on the industry’s reputation, AquAid has decided to use whatever resource necessary to help Powwow customers in urgent need of supply. Please contact us and we will direct you to the nearest of our 32 branches nationwide.

Eden Springs are sorry to hear that a great number of staff have been made redundant following the placement of Powwow Water into administration. We’re also concerned that a great many Powwow customers have been left in the dark about their ongoing water situation, with it now becoming clear that their contracts are likely to be declared null and void. Eden Springs are the UK’s leading water cooler supplier, and our customer services team are ready to help any former Powwow customer transfer their account quickly and without fuss to ensure they continue to receive water for their organisation.
