Post Holdings-owned Michael Foods has announced it will invest $85 million to build a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Norfolk, Iowa.
The new 150,000 square-foot facility will process eggs and pre-cooked egg products, and the company claims the factory will create 100-150 jobs.
Construction of the new facility is expected to start in summer 2018, and the company estimates it will be completed in 2019.
Michael Foods is one of the largest processors of value-added eggs in the US, and the expansion will strengthen its position in this segment.
Rob Vitale, president and chief executive officer of Post Holdings, Inc added: “We are delighted that the internal growth at Michael Foods supports this expansion.
“We believe it will further enhance our position as the nation’s leader in value-added egg products.”
Steve Schonhoff, senior vice president of integrated supply chain at Michael Foods said: “We looked at numerous locations in the Midwest, and Norwalk had many advantages.
“We look forward to becoming a preferred employer in the area and being part of the community.”
