Bühler has invested in its recently opened cocoa application facility in Jakarta, Indonesia, adding a new cocoa application laboratory to the facility.
This expansion will allow Bühler to offer complete cocoa processing trials to its clients in Southeast Asia, ranging from cocoa beans trials all the way to end product trials.
Two service engineers and a consumer food technologist will be present at the facility, and Bühler says the facility will serve “as the regional hub for the complete chocolate process chain from bean to bar.”
The processing line present at the facility allows clients to test cocoa processes such as alkalizing, roasting, grinding and pressing of cocoa liqueur, and the new laboratory will allow clients to improve their recipes and ingredients.
Joachim Essig, Bühler’s of head of market segment cocoa said: “We have shown our customers what we are capable of in terms of research and development right here.
“So for our customers there is no need to travel to Europe for trials anymore”.
Tobias Lohmüller,Bühler Head of R&D added: “Some customers already placed orders for trials here. That clearly shows that we satisfy a customer need with our lab.”
Ajay Nair, head of manufacturing at Olam Cocoa Asia Pacific said: “Facing varying quality of the incoming raw materials, we definitely need to refine our processes as well. We are definitely looking forward to this help from Bühler.
“Apart from services you also provide innovative solutions. That is why we have such a strong bond with Bühler.”
