Scottish spirits manufacturer Dunnet Bay Distillers has added to its Holy Grass Vodka range with a new variant paired with coffee.
Called Holy Grass Vodka – Cold Brew Coffee Edition, the beverage has been developed in partnership with Glasgow-based Ovenbird Coffee Roasters.
To create the craft spirit, six-years aged coffee beans that are roasted by Ovenbirds are blended with Holy Grass Vodka at Dunnet Bay’s distillery in the Highlands.
According to the company, the dark chocolate and vanilla notes of the beans are infused into the spirit, and hints of smoke, caramel and cocoa merge “to create a velvety smooth drink perfect for any occasion”.
Martin Murray, co-founder of Dunnet Bay Distillers, said: “We’ve been fans of, and friends with, the Ovenbird Coffee team for some time now, which has resulted in numerous vodka experiments down at the distillery.
“Over time the method has been perfected and we are now ready to share our Holy Grass Vodka – Cold Brew Coffee edition with the rest of the UK. It’s great slowly sipped over ice or it works fabulously in an espresso martini.”
The 41.5% ABV vodka is now available in the UK in 70cl bottles with a recommended retail price of £34.
Holy Grass Vodka itself is one of Dunnet Bay Distillers’ signature spirits, featuring the unusual botanical holy grass, so-called as it was once used to bring a sweet, vanilla smell to church floors. The spirit is also infused with a vapour of Highland apples and apple juice to complement the sweetness of the botanical.
