Closure manufacturer Vicap Systems has collaborated with German nutraceutical company Orthomol on the development of an in-cap functional drink infusion technology.
New Orthomol Quickcap is available in four different varieties, which offer distinct health benefits: the green tea-flavoured Brain cup improves concentration and alertness; mandarin- and lemon-flavoured Sport combines caffeine with electrolytes for enhanced physical performance; lemon-tea flavoured Beauty contains collagen and the fruits of the camu camu shrub, which are an excellent source of vitamin C, to help rejuvenate the skin; while the passionfruit-flavoured Sun variety supports its antioxidant composition.
To work the QuickCap, the consumer fills the free QuickCap bottle up to the indicated mark with still water. They are then required to remove the outer protective film on the underside of the cap, tighten the cap to the bottle, and remove the transparent protective cap that remains on the top of the capsule. By pressing down the green shift, the flavour enhancer is infused into the water, and can be mixed by shaking.
The capsules are packaged in boxes of seven capsules to give the consumer their weekly fix, and retail for €17.90 for the Brain, Sun and Sports varieties, and €21.90 for the Beauty capsule.
Last week, we reported that Incap had already developed a bottle cap that incorporates liquid infusion technology into it, but not specifically for functional beverages.
