Vinegar brand Sarson’s has developed a new type of chip, pickled before frying, after teaming up with a London fish and chip shop.
New Chipickles are pickled with Sarson’s malt vinegar before frying, a process that brings together the best of both chips and pickling, Sarson’s said. The limited-edition dish – termed “the ultimate salt and vinegar snack” – will be available for two weeks at Sutton & Sons in Shoreditch.
Sarson’s brand manager Noa Hasegawa said: “Pickling is undergoing a resurgence and we are thrilled to be working with chip pioneers Sutton & Sons to bring Chipickles to London’s foodie population. The distinctive salt and vinegar flavour of Chipickles will revolutionise the humble chip, bringing a whole new world of flavour to a traditional British dish. Once you taste Chipickles you won’t go back!”
Danny Sutton, founder of Sutton & Sons, added: “Chipickles are a great addition to our menu, which already highlights the importance of pickles in any great takeaway, and we can’t wait to see the reaction from our customers. At Sutton & Sons we like to introduce our customers to new flavours, constantly updating our menu to reflect up and coming food trends, and with the popularity of pickles on the rise this is a perfect match.”
