Taylors of Harrogate has expanded its green tea line-up with the arrival of a new blend featuring “delicate pear”.
Launching in Sainsbury’s stores later this month, the new Fairtrade-certified green tea and delicate pear blend has been carefully crafted by Taylors, in partnership with the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. It uses Chinese sencha, one of the world’s most prized varieties of green tea, and is available in 30g boxes of 20 tea bags with a recommended retail price of £2.29.
The launch adds to Taylors’ existing grapefruit and lime, strawberry and vanilla, and sweet mint green tea blends. It comes as consumer interest in green tea, renowned for its antioxidant properties, continues to grow – the sector is currently worth £37.6m with overall value sales up 19.5%, according to research from IRI.
Taylors of Harrogate senior brand manager Ben Newbury said: “Following the launch of our green tea range last year, consumer feedback has been phenomenal, with each blend performing really well, particularly Taylors green tea and sweet mint, which has proved a real hit with shoppers.
“We’re always looking at how we can evolve our range to ensure that we have exciting and differentiated flavours, so we’re thrilled to have teamed up with Kew yet again to develop this latest quintessentially English blend.”
