Australian winemaker McGuigan Wines has extended its partnership with TV chef John Torode by releasing an exclusive pinot noir rosé in the UK.
Set to have wine lovers “in a summertime spin”, the MT Pinot Noir Rosé is refreshing and bright with crunchy blueberry notes on the finish, sourced from the cooler vineyards of South Australia’s Adelaide Hills. It will be available from late June with a price of £10.
It is the second release to emerge from McGuigan Wines’ partnership with Torode, after it announced the launch of a series of wines designed specially for socialising earlier this month.
Torode and McGuigan Wines’ Neil McGuigan worked closely together to develop a rosé that steers away from the rich and intense flavours associated with shiraz and cabernet sauvignon varieties. Instead, the MT rosé has been made from pinot noir grapes, offering crisp, zesty, dry flavours that beautifully accompany the cherry blossom pink colour. More delicate than traditional Australian rosé, yet more flavoursome than many European versions, this new style of Australian rosé works equally as well on its own as it does paired with food, according to McGuigan Wines.
Neil McGuigan said: “It all began with an idea we had two years ago, which led us to create our first great wine together – a classic Hunter Valley semillon. This whet our appetites to create a second instalment in the MT collaborations range, which is a delicious pinot noir rosé. It’s uniquely balanced so it suits a broad range of dishes – perfect for a chef such as John.”
John Torode added: “Neil and I took a chance with this rosé and we’re thrilled with the result; the colour and flavour of the wine is superb. I’ll be pairing a bottle with my grilled squid with rocket salad recipe, which I created to match the wine.”
