Gelato and sorbetto brand Talenti has given consumers the chance to blend their social media personalities with those of their friends to generate a custom Talenti gelato flavour, and is even offering them the chance to have their flavour creation handcrafted by Talenti founder Josh Hochschuler.
The algorithm connects to consumers’ selected social media handles, scans their Instagram, Twitter and Facebook posts and applies a “flavour sentiment” such as sweet, sour, spicy, salty or bitter to each post. Word choice, emoji usage, punctuation and colour all play a role in determining each user’s individual flavour. These sentiments are then paired with ingredients to create a personalised flavour such as praline Hungarian shortbread mint or Pluot sauvignon blanc nectarine.
Consumers have the option to invite their friends to join their flavour; with each added friend, the combination of ingredients evolves and creates a more complex, one-of-a-kind gelato flavour. With hundreds of available ingredients and more than 1,500 words assigned to flavour profiles, there is potential to generate over 145 million combinations, the Unilever-owned brand said.
“We’re giving people and their friends the chance to create a gelato flavour unique to their friendship,” said Hochschuler. “In the same way people’s quirks and passions make up their personality, our ingredients make us uniquely Talenti.”
