Japanese food company Yutaka will bring Korea’s favourite food to UK supermarkets this month, marking the first time that it has been available to British consumers outside of specialist retailers.
Kimchi is a mix of fermented cabbage and spices – and is packed with fibre, vitamins, minerals and a wealth of antioxidants. It is also bursting with flavonoids and probiotics, which help to slow down ageing, maintain healthy levels of cholesterol and strengthen the immune system – all for only 13 calories per 100g.
Yutaka will launch the 215g jars of Korean kimchi in Sainsbury’s stores across the UK, with a recommended retail price of between £3 and £4.
The recipe is 100% natural and comprises fermented cabbage with chilli, garlic, radish, carrot, salt and ginger. Ideal as a side dish, it can be eaten with salads, barbecue food and traditional rice and noodle dishes – and can even be paired with burgers, tacos and pizzas.
