Healthy snack brand Eat Natural has today launched a “groundbreaking” new bar that is designed to aid digestive traction and promote general gut wellbeing.
The Better Inside bar – a fourth addition to Eat Natural’s range of Bars with Benefits” – contains naturally active chicory root, which is well-known for its digestive qualities. It also contains dried apricots, Brazil nuts and naturally fibrous coconut flakes, all coated in yogurt.
The soluble fibre inulin, found in chicory root, helps to aid digestion promote the growth of good bacteria.
Free from gluten and wheat, as well as being vegetarian-friendly, the new bars have been launched in the free-from aisle at 750 main estate Tesco stores, and as a single product unit in Sainsbury’s. It is also available for the convenience, independent and wholesale sector.
The Bars with Benefits line-up has already outsold its predecessor in Tesco, Eat Natural said, with a yearly sales uplift of 45%.
Praveen Vijh, co-founder of Eat Natural, said: “This is the latest in a series of hugely innovative products for us. Having a single benefit, such as free from, isn’t enough anymore. Our customers want us to pack even more benefits into our bars. So we’ve listened to them and come up with new SKUs with added ‘accent’ flavours and ingredients such as ginger, or maple syrup – and now chicory root.
“It’s unique to the category and we have reimagined the category through this range and now this new bar.”
The benefits of good digestion are plentiful, Eat Natural continued. It is said to improve colon health, help with the maintenance of a healthy weight, fight bugs, reduce the effects of food intolerances and hay fever, and ensure skin allergies are kept at bay.
The new bar joins the existing Bars with Benefits range, which consists of a dark chocolate, seeds and peanuts variety for omega-3 content; maple syrup, pecans and peanuts version for extra protein; and an apple, ginger and dark chocolate bar for added fibre.
