Popcorn brand Butterkist has launched its sweet cinema-style popcorn in a “bigger and better-value” sharing pack in the UK.
The 250g sharing bag features the “best ever recipe” of Butterkist’s sweet cinema-style popcorn, and has been designed to cater for a variety of sharing occasions. It has a recommended retail price of £2, which, Butterkist pointed out, represented 25% extra free when compared to a standard 100g pack.
The snack contains a source of fibre and wholegrain, has 50% less saturated fat, and will offer consumers an additional option during some of the year’s biggest sharing occasions, including Halloween, Christmas and New Year.
Speaking about the launch of the new pack format, Anjna Mistry, senior brand manager at Butterkist, said: “Our Butterkist sweet cinema-style standard sharing bag is the best-selling flavour in the popcorn market and is unique to the Butterkist brand. We’re confident that this new bigger, better-value format of this much-loved recipe will appeal to consumers who are looking for an indulgent treat for upcoming sharing occasions, such as Halloween in October.
“Popcorn was the fourth most important category for Halloween in 2014 and the top category for year-on-year volume growth (29%), ahead of fancy dress and cake decorations, representing 5% of the total Halloween sale.”
The new Butterkist sweet cinema-style value packs will be available in convenience and discounter stores from September.
