Pan-Asian US food brand Annie Chun’s has launched a new line of seaweed snacks ahead of the back-to-school season.
The new snacks, Annie Chun’s said, are perfectly portioned, low in calories and boast the many health benefits of marine vegetables such as high quantities of vitamins A, B and C. They also contain a broad range of minerals, essential iron, protein and fibre, making them ideal for nutrient-rich snacking at lunch time, between classes, or after school.
The low-in-calorie products include Annie Chun’s seaweed crisps, featuring the brand’s best-selling seaweed snacks on top of fibre-packed crispy brown rice chips. The gluten-free, vegan snacks contain only 80 calories per serving and are free from trans fats, and are available in three flavours: original, Korean-style barbecue, and gochujang – a Korean condiment made from red chili, glutinous rice, fermented soybeans and salt.
In addition, the organic seaweed snacks are roasted snacks made from non-GMO ingredients. They are vegan-friendly and free from dairy and gluten, with flavours such as authentic sesame and spicy wasabi.
“For a convenient and nutritious way to add delicious flavour to lunch time, swap out greasy chips or processed crackers for Annie Chun’s new organic seaweed snacks and our popular seaweed crisps, which combine seaweed with a brown rice chip for a gluten-free crunch,” said Nayoung Shin, head of corporate marketing for CJ Foods. “In striving to provide people with delicious Asian foods that make healthy eating accessible and enjoyable, we believe these better-for-you snacks will earn high marks and keep parents satisfied knowing their children are snacking healthily.”
The new crisps and organic seaweed snacks will be available with a recommended retail price of $3.49 and $1.99 respectively.
Annie Chun’s products are available across the US in retailers such as Kroger, Safeway, Whole Foods and Meijer.
