Hain Celestial agrees to acquire British soup maker Yorkshire Provender for an undisclosed sum.
Yorkshire Provender produces a range of premium soup flavours, which are sold in retailers, on-the-go food outlets and through foodservice providers throughout the UK. They include roast chicken with vegetable soup, and tomato with red pepper – as well as several seasonal flavour, such as the turkey and trimmings soup that it released for Christmas 2015.
Hain Celestial, which will buy out the company through one of its wholly owned subsidiaries, said that the company would be a good strategic fit for its portfolio of organic and natural food products in Europe.
Hain Celestial president and chief executive officer Irwin D Simon said: “We welcome Belinda and Terry Williams, co-founders of Yorkshire Provender, to the Hain Celestial family and look forward to working with the Yorkshire Provender team in leading the next chapter of the brand’s development.”
The group already owns other premium soup brands, including New Covent Garden Soup and Cully & Sully.
“We are excited to work together with the Yorkshire Provender team and leverage our combined infrastructures to drive future growth,” said James Skidmore, chief executive officer of the Hain Daniels Group. “This transaction expands the depth of our soup offering with Yorkshire Provender’s gluten-free, delicious, premium recipes and flavours.”
Yorkshire Provender will continue to operate from its base in Ripon, North Yorkshire.
Co-founder Belinda Williams said that the deal was ‘a significant milestone’ for the brand, which would continue to target growth through new and existing customers.
Yorkshire Provender had approximately £6 million in net sales for the full-year of 2016, and is expected to be accretive to Hain Celestial’s earnings in the fiscal year 2018.
