Canadian energy drinks company Guru Energy has added an Organic Lite variant to its range, using monk fruit as a sweetener.
Guru claims the flesh of the monk fruit has a sweetening power ‘300 times that of white sugar’, which provides a fruity taste, but without all the calories.
Gluten-free and vegan, the Organic Lite has 20 calories and is infused with green tea, ginseng, guarana and echinacea, as well as stevia and lemon juice.
Guru Energy vice-president of sales and marketing Carl Goyette said: “We are proud to offer Canadian consumers certified organic products for health and energy that are low in calories and free of artificial sweeteners.
“Organic Lite was a challenge for us because we wanted to remain faithful to the taste of the original product. We are thrilled to introduce monk fruit, a natural sweetener with remarkable benefits.”
The new beverage is now available across Canada in retailers and online.
