Beer and wine importer Morgenrot has announced the introduction of a trio of beers from the McGargles family of small batch brews.
Granny Mary’s red ale, Cousin Rosie’s pale ale and Knock Knock Ned’s real India pale ale are brewed by Ireland-based Rye River Brewery – the first commercial brewery to be built in the country in 100 years. The “beers deliver incredible quality and choice”, Morgenrot claimed, which it said is essential in meeting the expectations of a “discerning” and “ever-changing” marketplace.
The beers, which range from 4.4% to 6.5% ABV, are described as “moreish”, “well-rounded” and “bitter sweet” respectively. They will be introduced at the Pub 15 exhibition in London this month.
Morgenrot sales director Graham Archibald said: “There’s already a buzz surrounding the McGargles brand in Ireland and we’re thrilled to be the sole distributor of the brand in the UK. The beers are fun, high quality and have real personality and the timing couldn’t be better with interest in exciting craft beers continuing to boom.”
The craft brewing sector is enjoying an resurgence, and in January we reported that sales of beer were expected to increase for the first time in five years.
Rye River Brewery Company co-founder Niall Phelan added: “We believe many beer brands take themselves too seriously so wanted to create beers which pack a punch when it comes to taste but are also fun and approachable for the masses. After an incredible start last year, we are delighted to now be working with Morgenrot to bring our special beers to the UK mainland.”
