Food start-up Atlantic Kitchen has launched a range of ready-to-eat soups made using seaweed in online supermarket Ocado.
The soups are available in a range of three flavours: vibrant beets bowl with tender Wakame seaweed, super-greens minestrone with al dente sea spaghetti seaweed, and spicy tomato bisque with smoky Dulse seaweed. Packaged in 400g tubs, the soups have launched on Ocado with an introductory price of £3, which will later rise to the regular price of £3.99. Free from gluten, sugar and dairy, they have a shelf life of seven days.
The meal soups, which launched exclusively in Selfridges in March and are additionally stocked by retailers Planet Organic and Whole Foods Market, are the first in a range of products from the brand, which sources organic, wild seaweed from the Atlantic coastlines of Europe.
Atlantic Kitchen co-founder Ruth Dronfield said: “We are thrilled to be able to launch our meal soups in these well-respected stores. Seaweed is the ultimate superfood – its local, abundant and positive for the environment.
“We’re only just scratching the surface of what we can do with this delicious natural resource and it is exciting to be able to go on this journey of discovery with food-lovers by launching our first ready-to-eat range.”
