Serving five, the new Special Bramley Apple Pie is 20% heavier than standard, with a new 640g pack size. The pie is made from butter-enriched shortcrust pastry and deep-filled with apples and sultanas before cinnamon and nutmeg spices are added.
For the new Winter Fruit Crumble, apples, rhubarb and sultanas are combined with a blend of winter spices and an oaty crumble topping, to serve four.
“The dessert sector is a key focus for Aunt Bessie’s and one that we have seen significant growth in recently,” said James Turton, commercial director. “As a brand, we know that for many of our customers, no meal is complete without something sweet to finish it off and that’s why we have developed these new additions to our hot desserts range, as they deliver that premium feeling at the end of the meal without any of the added time or stress needed to produce it.”
In addition, Aunt Bessie’s has worked with Iceland to develop two desserts exclusively for the store. The Rhubarb Pie and Syrup Sponge Pudding have an RRP of £1.50.
Owned by the William Jackson Food Group, Aunt Bessie’s currently has a 44% share of the frozen hot dessert market, with a growth rate in the sector of 22%, more than four times that of the market average.
