More than 70% of British men will be indulging in a pork pie this Christmas, according to a recent survey from UK pork pie manufacturer Pork Farms.
The pork pie – not traditionally a Christmas food – is fast becoming a festive favourite, the company claimed, with over 60% of all adults looking forward to a pork pie or two this year. Men were the most likely to consume a pork pie, followed by over half of all women.
The findings also revealed that consumers in the North West of England are the most likely to be enjoying pork pies at Christmas time and, as with the majority of Brits they prefer, a simple unadulterated pork pie, Pork Farms revealed. Londoners, meanwhile, enjoy their pork pie served up with a fruity chutney.
Pork Farms head of markets Kim Burgess said: “Christmas time is an ideal opportunity to enjoy quality time together as a family and great food always plays a central part in any get together. As the traditional pork pie is set to be enjoyed by the majority of UK consumers this year, we have made sure that all at Pork Farms are ready for the festive pork pie stampede.
“We have also made extra for Santa Claus as our survey revealed that although the mince pie remains the favourite Christmas Eve offering, more Brits would swap the carrot and a glass of milk for a Pork Farm’s pork pie and a favourite tipple this year.”
