A $600,000 cheque was presented to the YMCA, with additional $100,000 payments scheduled each April from 2012 through 2015.
Cargill businesses employ more than 1,100 people in Wichita. In addition to special donations such as this, the company’s local Cargill Cares Council, in cooperation with the corporate matches received from its Minneapolis-based parent, donates approximately $1m annually to organisations throughout the Wichita area that focus on health and nutrition, youth programmes, education and environmental sustainability.
Greater Wichita YMCA plans to spend $40m over the next several years to build, improve and expand facilities for programmes that foster youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
