Carlsberg has brewed up a storm today in London, offering passers-by free beer as part of its latest outdoor promotional campaign.
The Danish company installed a poster at The Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch, providing a single self-serve pump above which is emblazoned the words “probably the best poster in the world” – a reference to the firm’s long-running tagline in the UK.
Carlsberg has remained reasonably quiet on the initiative, with the majority of hype resulting from social media users sharing photographs of the event online.
But Carlsberg UK senior brand manager Dharmesh Rana told The Drum: “We’re down here today working with The [Old] Truman Brewery more so because we’ve got a great space in central London; it’s all part of a renewed investment behind the Carlsberg brand in the UK so this is all about giving different things – more than just great TV advertising – so our whole objective is around getting more beer drinkers to see, hear more great stuff from the Carlsberg brand. So going alongside the great TV advertising, which we’ve done and we’ll continue to do that, but actually, if we want to engage with a new audience, this is the best way to do things.”
