Chase Distillery has released a limited edition premium limoncello, which will be made available in selected retailers nationwide for the first time.
Pococello is made using lemons grown on Italy’s Amalfi coast, which provides the perfect environment for growing lemons. They are then hand-peeled and macerated in Chase Distillery’s 96% Hereford potato spirit for seven days, extracting of every drop of the lemon oil to give the drink its characteristic cloudiness.
Its launch follows the limited production run of Sohocello – also made using lemons cultivated near the town of Amalfi – that was sold exclusively at bars, wine merchants and restaurants in London’s Soho last year. The new limoncello has adopted a new name – adapted from the Italian for “little” – and undergone a complete packaging redesign since that time, and will be made available in the UK later. Pococello is the result of a collaboration between Chase Distillery and Soho-based restaurant Pizza Pilgrims.
As a spokesperson for the brand explained: “A unique combination of constant sun, cooling mediterranean breeze, and rich volcanic soil add up to the ideal atmospheric conditions for cultivating the world’s most fragrant, delicious lemons… packed with the essential oils that make the difference between a standard limoncello and a drink which is nothing short of transcendent.”
