Chr. Hansen has launched a new range of next-generation Premium cultures that it claims helps fresh dairy producers meet demands for immune health.
As consumers are increasingly interested in foods that support well-being, the cultures claim to advance the taste and nutritious profile of fresh dairy products.
According to the Chr. Hansen, YoFlex Premium and Nu-trish Premium can be used for creating high-texture yogurts with fewer additives and a healthier profile.
The cultures claim to also help improve margins by reducing the need for expensive skim milk powder and can be used to create healthier, premium yogurts with the optimal amount of probiotics.
The launch comes after the company announced that it has put microbial platforms at the centre of its strategy.
YoFlex Premium is described as using the power of good bacteria to create high texture naturally, reducing the need for added ingredients such as skim milk powder. Chr. Hansen says fewer additives can result in a cleaner label and more affordable products.
“YoFlex Premium is unique because it yields exceptionally high mouth thickness and mild flavour, both of which are crucial for creating new taste experiences,” said Thomas Skaaning, senior vice president, food cultures and enzymes, Chr. Hansen.
Meanwhile, the company is also launching three new Nu-trish Premium cultures that feature both Bifidobacterium, BB-12 and Lactobacillus rhamnosus, LGG, which are linked to immune and digestive health.
Skaaning added: “Never before has the need to eat for health been more urgent. In this way, our launch of Nu-trish Premium’s newest generation comes at the perfect moment, enabling producers to offer premium yogurts while helping to support the health of consumers.”
