Coconut yogurt brand Co Yo has doubled the size of its production facility and redesigned the pot lids across its entire range, as it seeks to grow sales and drive innovation.
The investment of £500,000, the company said, would help it to meet increasing demand for all-natural coconut milk yogurts in the UK. The expansion at the facility in Kent has doubled its capacity, significantly added to the workforce and delivered a complete refit of the premises with new equipment.
The changes, Co Yo said, mean that it is now the only coconut yogurt brand in the UK to produce its product on its own premises. With a number of new product launches planned for 2016 and beyond, the expansion and capability will allow the business to continue its drive for innovation in the category.
To increase rate of sale and improve on-shelf presence, Co Yo has also redesigned the pot lid on its entire range. With a cleaner look and feel, the new packaging reflects the ethos of the brand and the pure and all-natural ingredient profile of the product, with 99% of each yogurt made from nothing but pure coconut.
Co Yo founder Bethany Eaton said: “To meet the increased demand for our all-natural coconut milk yogurt, we have doubled the size of our production facilities in Kent and invested in state-of-the-art equipment so we can further drive innovation in the category.
“Our fresh, redesigned pot lid ensures Co Yo has greater brand presence on the shelf, while highlighting the quality ingredients that make up the yogurt. Indeed, a whole coconut goes into every 100g of Co Yo and the product is free from dairy, lactose, gluten and soya.”
The brand’s range of coconut milk yogurts are available across the UK in Waitrose, Ocado, Tesco, Whole Foods Market, Planet Organic, Selfridges and over 1,000 independents with a recommended retail price of £1.99 for 125g.
