Coca-Cola Spain has launched a new line of premium mixers for the horeca industry.
The eight-flavour range is Coca-Cola’s first new local brand in Spain for ten years, and is backed by a €22 million investment.
Currently only planned for hotels, restaurants and cafés, Royal Bliss will give bartenders a portfolio of flavours with which to create exciting new drinks. They include lemon, orange, yuzu tonic water, and ‘berry sensation’.
Jorge Garduño, CEO of Coca-Cola for Spain and Portugal, called Royal Bliss one of the company’s ‘big bets for 2017’.
To bring the product to market, Coca-Cola partnered with Constantia Flexibles for the front labels. Constantia Flexibles created a wash-off pressure-sensitive label, which consists of a 45 micron clear shrinkable film that was gravure printed with seven colours using Constantia’s Thermowash technology.
The technology ensures that the inks and adhesive are completely extracted in the bottle washing process. Constantia also created a pressure-sensitive label using screen/flexo print for non-returnable bottles.
Paloma Cruz Caridad, Coca-Cola’s sparkling soft drinks brand director for Iberia, explained the motivations behind the launch: “We are committed to horeca and we wanted to give those thousands of customers a range of products with which they can continue to amaze their customers.”
Other flavours of Royal Bliss include an ‘elegant’ soda and two tonic waters – including one with zero sugar.
Yesterday, Constantia Flexibles invested nearly €3 million in printing technology at its manufacturing site in Wangen im Allgäu, Germany.
