The Good Whey Company has revealed a new chocolate and orange variety of its Upbeat dairy protein drink.
The new flavour is the fourth in Upbeat’s portfolio, and joins the existing strawberry; mango and passionfruit; and raspberry variants. It combines protein, fruit purée, delicious oranges and real chocolate for a low-fat, protein-rich boost that amounts to only 150 calories in each 250ml bottle.
“With half the sugar found in most fruit juices and smoothies, Upbeat is the perfect option for health conscious consumers at a time when unhealthy snacking remains high on people’s agenda,” the brand said.
Upbeat chocolate and orange’s introduction will be supported by a nationwide advertising campaign, with an investment of £800,000 during April and May. “The first burst of TV in January saw sales of Upbeat soar in the first quarter to levels five times higher than last year, and the brand has now passed £3m retail sales value,” it clamed.
The Good Whey Company general manager Peter Groves said: “Over the past eighteen months the Upbeat brand has gone from strength to strength – we have secured national distribution in over 4,500 stockists and the sales figures for the first quarter have been a fantastic start to the year.
“Our ambition for the brand is huge and we are really excited to launch the new chocolate and orange flavour, which will strengthen our core range offering and help drive the brand forward following a successful start to the year. We’re passionate about helping people live healthier, happier lives and feel good about themselves. We also know that protein isn’t just for athletes and bodybuilders – all of us need protein. For those of us leading busy active lives, finding the right food can be difficult when you’re ‘on the go’. Chocolate and orange is the perfect healthier snacking option when you might otherwise be tempted by a sweet treat – and it hits that sweet spot.”
