Demon Drinks director, Andy Smith, said: “The potential for energy shots here in New Zealand is huge. In the US, they’ve seen phenomenal growth in this category and it’s now worth over NZ$1bn. What’s intriguing is that in the US the appeal of them is so wide. All sorts of people are enjoying them, from mothers to businesspeople to top athletes; basically anyone who’s tired and needs some extra energy to get through the day.
“Demon Energy shots provide consumers with a new format to consume an energy drink, as this range gives a stronger kick to the consumer than traditional energy drinks, and in a more convenient, 60ml size. The amount of caffeine is the same as a large espresso coffee you can buy at any coffee shop.
“The good news is that they contain no calories, kilojoules or sugar, and because they don’t contain sugar, there’s no ‘sugar crash’. This energy will keep you going for as long as six hours! They’re designed to be drunk at room temperature and the convenient size means that you can throw them in your glove box, pocket or bag and drink them whenever you need.”
Demon was the first to bring large-serve energy cans into the New Zealand market, and has recently launched the first 1-litre take-home size energy bottle for supermarkets.
