Old Moors Cider & Elderflower will be launched in April, just before the cider drinking season. The cider complements an existing range of fruit ciders under the Old Moors brand, including blackberry, peach, pear and apple.
James McIlwraith, chairman of Devon Cider, is confident that this new variant will inject a fresh approach into the cider market: “Elderflower is already a highly established natural flavour in cordials and its refreshing soft and floral tang provides a perfect accompaniment to the traditional Old Moors cider recipe. The Cider & Elderflower is made with elderflower press, whereas other fruit ciders on the market are made with flavourings added.”
The Devon Cider Company, based in Tiverton in the heart of Devon, supplies a number of major accounts and was the first company in the UK to develop a range of fruit ciders designed to appeal to a wide range of consumers.
Devon Cider brands have shown tremendous growth over the last few years and the company now has a turnover in excess of £25m. James McIlwraith has ambitions to develop company market share further with its own brands.
“Although we’re well known in the southwest, we really want to add our brands to the national cider map this year and play a much more active role in helping to grow the sector,” he said. “Our premium brands Old Moors and 3 Hammers ciders will be the subject of a major investment programme – details of which will be announced later in the year.”
Old Moors Cider & Elderflower (4% abv) is available in 568ml glass bottles and is presented in a cardboard merchandising unit containing eight bottles.
