It’s a science-based recipe, made with tart cherry juice and whey protein rich in bioavailable tryptophan.
“There’s a huge need to help people sleep without drugs,” said company founder and CEO Bob Jones. “We’d really like to help people sleep well. Sleep is so fundamental to our health, our well-being and maybe even to our sanity.”
The Montmorency tart cherry juice used in Food for Sleep was first studied in athletes. Rich in antioxidants, it was shown to promote more rapid muscle recovery. However, these athletes also experienced exceptional sleep during the study.
Subsequent research on this tart cherry juice demonstrated increased sleep efficiency and total sleep time in study participants. More recent evidence suggests that tart cherry juice may also enhance our natural use of tryptophan, which the body converts to serotonin and melatonin.
