Funkin has expanded its range of single-batch syrups to answer growing demand from the on-trade channel, the cocktail mixer maker has said.
Available from next month, the FunkinPro Citric Syrup line is inspired by sweet shop flavours and the nostalgia of pick and mix confectionery, and is the result of a collaborative effort between Funkin and bar chain Be At One. Available to the on-trade in cases of six 36cl bottles, the new syrups are available in rhubarb, ginger, Earl Grey, spiced and citric varieties. The syrups pair perfectly with flavoured vodka to create a range of sherbet cocktails.
According to Funkin, “as demand for cocktails that evoke retro flavours grows, novelty ingredients and garnishes are becoming commonplace on cocktail menus”.
Funkin managing director Andrew King said: “We are excited to see how the newest syrup in the range can be used in a variety of cocktails in addition to an array of classic sherbet drinks.
“In true Funkin fashion, we are committed to providing top quality solutions for our customers to help them meet the demands of changing consumer palettes. FunkinPro Citric Syrup offers our customers a consistent solution for serving this innovative ingredient to guarantee a great tasting cocktail each and every time.”
Be At One marketing manager Sarah Swaysland added: “Our sherbet cocktail is a leading seller amongst our many cocktails. This is a drink for those who are a fan of tart flavours. The challenge we faced was creating a consistent quality product that could be used across our locations so we turned to Funkin to help us create one. We are extremely pleased with the result and the syrup will be stocked at 26 Be At One locations across the UK.”
Funkin was acquired by soft drinks group AG Barr in a deal that could be worth as much as £21m, as FoodBev reported back in February.
