Online greeting card company Someecards has teamed up with 1026 Beverages to release three wine varietals in the US.
SomeWine’s 2014 pinot noir, 2013 chardonnay and 2012 red blend – all produced in California – will be available in outlets of HEB Stores in Texas as well as online in more than 30 US states. The label on each bottle features the same greeting card humour that has made Someecards one of the most viral brands in the US, with almost 100m interactions every month on social media.
The new pinot noir is described as “light bodied with big flavours of cherry and black pepper” that’s great with rich foods like salmon, burgers and chocolate. It is wrapped in a lilac label with the words “keep your friends close and your glass of wine closer”.
The chardonnay “is great to sip while reading a book, watching a movie at home, or as part of any relaxing evening” and pairs well with lighter dishes – and, as the label says, “pairs perfectly with your kids being asleep”.
And the red blend is a combination of different kinds of red grapes that “makes for an easy drinking wine that is also is full of flavour, making it a very versatile wine”. It pairs well with chocolate, coffee desserts and anything apart from really light foods. Its drinkability is highlighted on the label, in orange, which reads “this wine goes great with more of this wine”.
1026 Beverages said: “Our SomeWine labels grab attention and a first purchase with the same undeniable humour of the cards, and the high-value wine inside the bottle that ensures repeat business.
“Someecards is the number one social media brand in America, and appeals to millennials as much as it does their moms – two critical wine consuming audiences.”
The company added that “nothing says ‘I brought some wine’ like showing up with a bottle of SomeWine”.
