Cider maker H Weston & Sons has announced the launch of “the UK’s first canned cider produced with genuine craft credentials”.
Caple Rd is named for the road that leads up to the company’s Herefordshire cider mill, and is described as “a delicious dry, oaky smokey cider with a mouth-wateringly sour finish” and “subtle notes of leather”.
Featuring a bold yellow and black design from Cheltenham-based BOS design, the new 5.2% ABV cider is available in 330ml cans and will retail for £4 per can in “premium on-trade outlets”, beginning this month.
Geoff Bradman, Westons’ head of sales, said: “The canned craft beer category has seen huge growth over the last couple of years, yet so far no one has launched a craft cider in a can. Early feedback from our research on Caple Rd has been absolutely phenomenal from both the trade and consumers, so we are delighted to be launching it this month and bringing some genuine innovation to the market.”
