Indena has announced that it will highlight the potential benefits of curcumin to footballers at an annual conference for the football medicine sector.
The company’s participation in the Football Medicine Strategies for Player Care Conference – to be held in London this month – underlines its involvement in the growing sports nutrition market.
“Indena will present a study on Meriva, its proprietary lecithin-based and diet-inspired delivery system for curcumin, which confirms that its specific curcumin formulation may aid in sports nutrition by attenuating Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness due to eccentric muscle activity,” the firm claimed.
Indena also stated that Meriva helps footballers to “retain their peak physical and mental condition even when subjected to considerable stress”. The company said that the diarylheptanoid was finding popularity in the sports nutrition market, after studies documented “its activity, efficacy and tolerability”.
