Innis & Gunn’s US division will further expand its craft beer portfolio when it takes on Marston’s Wychwood Brewery brands, including best-seller Hobgoblin, from Marston’s current importer Eurobrew next month.
Innis & Gunn will take over the contract of Wychwood’s brands from 23 July, after previously being entrusted with Somerset cider maker Thatchers’ Green Goblin and Thatchers Gold brands.
The announcement has been made amid significant expansion projects for the craft brewer which, over the last month, has kick-started a mini-bond to raise £3m to build a brewery and unveiled plans for a bar and restaurant in Edinburgh. Overseas sales account for 70% of the Scottish brewer’s total business, it said.
Innis & Gunn USA (IGUSA) managing director Dan Deluca said: “Marston’s is one of the UK’s largest and most successful brewers and pub operators so it is a great tribute to IGUSA that we have [expanded] with these brands, particularly since Marston’s has ambitious growth targets for Wychwood in the USA.”
Marston’s head of off-trade and export Carl Middleton added: “We have big plans for Hobgoblin in the US and are very excited at the prospect of working with Dan and the rest of the Innis & Gunn team in the US to start to realise these.
“The Hobgoblin brand has already been in the US for a number of years now but we are approaching this transition to Innis & Gunn as a complete re-launch for the brand which will include a refresh of packaging and communication to give greater impact in both on and off premise.”
