BY BORD BIA, THE IRISH FOOD BOARD
Bord Bia – the Irish Food Board – and a record number of food and drink exporters will travel to Anuga in October 2017 with a view to developing new business opportunities and maintaining existing trading relationships at the biggest food fair in the world.
With participation across four halls, this will be Ireland’s and Origin Green’s largest European trade fair footprint. The show attracts over 160,000 visitors from over 190 countries and is one of the most important trade, sourcing and trend platforms for the international food industry. We look forward to meeting you there!
Exhibitors across all of the Irish pavilions are members of Ireland’s national sustainability programme, Origin Green. Launched in 2012, Origin Green is the only sustainability programme in the world which operates on a national scale, uniting government, the private sector, and food producers through Bord Bia. Origin Green enables Irish food and drink suppliers to incorporate sustainability into all areas of the supply chain. Commitments are made under three key areas: raw material sourcing, manufacturing processes and social sustainability. The impact of this programme is to reduce environmental impact, achieve efficiencies and improve impact on society.
To further bolster Origin Green at farm level, the Sustainable Dairy Assurance Scheme (SDAS) was launched in December 2013. The SDAS is the first national dairy scheme of its kind anywhere in the world. It sets out requirements for best practice on Irish dairy farms in animal health and welfare, land management, biosecurity, safe farming practices and the production of safe milk. It also provides a framework for measuring the continuous improvement of each participating farmer, recording and monitoring sustainability credentials at farm level.
The SDAS is a rigorous, independently verified and internationally accredited programme (European Standard for Product Certification – ISO 17065: 2012).
Bord Bia invites you to visit the Origin Green Ireland stands at Anuga in Cologne this October.
