Ka-Pop! Snacks and Bubba’s Fine Foods have announced a merger agreement as they look to establish a “powerhouse” healthy consumer packaged goods company.
Headquartered in Colorado, US, the company created by the merger will operate as Awakened Foods.
Dustin Finkel, founder of Ka-Pop! Snacks, will lead Awakened Foods as CEO, with Bubba’s Fine Foods founder Jeff Schmidgall as the company’s COO.
Ka-Pop! Snacks is a maker of ancient grain popped chips and puffs. Meanwhile, Bubba’s Fine Foods produces paleo- and keto-friendly snacks and granolas, as well as private-label goods.
“The combination of two companies at this early trajectory is extraordinary. Rarely is there such a perfect fit in culture, capabilities, products and innovation,” said Awakened Foods CEO Finkel.
He continued: “Our products represent the best potential of food – uncompromising in their taste and health – bringing joy back to healthy eating.”
The merged company is also launching a new division for private label and co-manufacturing – Awakened Food Crafters – with production capabilities spanning granolas, extruded products, popped chips and other snacks.
Jeff Schmidgall, COO of Awakened Foods, said: “Leveraging new capital and the best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure built over the last six years at Bubba’s Fine Foods, Awakened Foods is ready to take on the meteoric growth of our branded businesses.
“Simultaneously, we will apply our decades of experience in manufacturing excellence to fast-track our private label and co-manufacturing division, Awakened Food Crafters.”
