Keurig Dr Pepper and Nestlé USA have signed an agreement which will facilitate the continued production of Starbucks branded K-Cup pods in North America.
This agreement will replace Keurig Dr Pepper’s existing agreement with Starbucks Corporation, which began in 2011, following an initial transition period.
No financial terms of the agreement have been disclosed by either party.
Nestlé acquired the rights to market and distribute Starbucks consumer products and foodservice products globally outside of Starbucks coffee shops in August 2018, and this new agreement ensures that Starbucks branded K-Cup pods will continue to be available to consumers in the US.
Keurig Dr Pepper chief commercial officer Derek Hopkins said: “Today’s announcement with Nestlé recognizes the success of the Keurig and Starbucks strategic relationship, which dates back to 2011.
“It also underscores the mutually-beneficial nature of that partnership and the significant, untapped opportunities that still exist for the single-serve coffee category in North America.”
Tony Matta, president of Nestlé Coffee Partners, added: “We are excited to enter into an agreement directly with Keurig Dr Pepper that enables us to continue the strategic partnership and accelerate growth of the Starbucks brand on the Keurig K-Cup platform.”
