Whisky distiller Laphroaig has launched a new Islay single malt Scotch whisky, as the company continues to celebrate its bicentenary.
In April, we reported that Laphroaig had released a limited-edition 15-year-old whisky to mark its 200th anniversary.

Now the distiller has released a more than three decades-aged single cask. Matured exclusively in a first-fill former Oloroso cask, the whisky has picked up all the flavours typical of spirit laid down in ex-sherry casks, Laphroaig said. For instance, there are dark Christmas fruits, nuts and spice notes, and at the same time it boasts “the extraordinary, delicate balance common to old, excellent whiskies”.
“On the nose the aroma of caramelised brown sugar is predominant, with notes of dark, bitter chocolate and nutmeg leading the palate, followed by a dry and lingering sherried oak finish,” the company added in a statement.
The “intensely rich single malt” will launch this month in select whisky retailers with a recommended retail price of £750.
