Suntory Beverage & Food has invested £13 million to install a new production line at the Lucozade Ribena Suntory production site in Coleford, UK.
The production site in Gloucestershire produces a range of drinks for the UK market, including beverages for the Lucozade Energy, Lucozade Sport and Ribena brands.
According to a statement from the company, the new high-speed bottling line is capable of filling 55,000 bottles an hour, enabling Lucozade Ribena Suntory to keep up with the growing demand for its drinks.
This investment also allows Suntory to fulfil its sustainability objectives, as producing a bottled beverage on the new line requires 40% less energy and water than on the previous line, thanks to the introduction of new dry aseptic technology which uses pressurised heat and air to clean bottles before they are filled.
While the investment significantly expands production capacity at the site, the company also states that the new production line will allow flexibility for future innovations, particularly for low-calorie options.
Carol Robert, chief operating officer at Lucozade Ribena Suntory said: “The launch of this production line is significant for us and forms part of our ‘Growing for Good’ vision.
“It’s fantastic to have been able to invest £13 million in this line and to deliver a 40% reduction in the energy and water required to make each bottle. In doing so, we are making an important commitment to both the environment and our consumers.
“This investment is a vote of confidence by Suntory Beverage & Food in our UK and Gloucestershire operations, ensuring our factory in Coleford continues to be a best-in-class facility for years to come.”
