Nut and seed butter producer Meridian Foods has launched two new coconut butters, as coconut’s popularity among British consumers goes from strength to strength.
The company has introduced coconut and peanut butter, and coconut and almond butter, blended its natural peanut and almond nut butters with pure coconut and a dash of honey before grinding them until nearly smooth. The new butters offer an indulgent yet healthy combination of taste and texture, Meridian Foods continued.
They will be rolled out in Holland & Barrett, as well as independent health retailers, from this month. The coconut and peanut butter is available in 280g jars with a recommended retail price of £2.49, while the coconut and almond butter is available in 170g jars with a recommended retail price of £3.99.
Darren Robinson, head of sales for Meridian Foods, said: “As the first manufacturer to produce nut butters with 100% nuts and no palm oil, sweeteners and salt, we have always declared a desire to be at the forefront of innovation in the category. The launch of these two new variants reinforces that commitment and we are delighted to be adding new flavours to the UK’s number one nut butter brand.
“Our consumers tell us that they want to see more interesting nut butter variants. These new lines combine all the natural goodness of two of the hottest ‘superfoods’ together in jar with a touch of honey. These are sure to be a hit with all consumers who buy into the health benefits of nuts. Coconuts, like all other nuts, provide great levels of healthy fats and oils and provide consumers with wonderful tasting slow release natural energy.”
