Mountain Dew has announced a partnership with US TV channel, AMC, ahead of the premiere of the eighth season of The Walking Dead.
The collaboration will include extensive The Walking Dead on-pack and in-store branding across the US, feature iconic show character images of Rick Grimes, Michonne and Daryl Dixon on all single serve 20 oz. and 12 oz bottles.
As part of the partnership, an augmented reality app has also been released called The Walking Encounter, which allows consumers to experience some of the show’s most iconic zombie walkers in their own real-world environments and then share the interactions via social media.
During the season, Mountain Dew commercials during The Walking Dead live episodes will allow viewers to unlock new walkers each week.
Chauncey Hamlett, senior director of marketing for Mountain Dew, said: “We are always looking to form partnerships that will deliver one-of-a-kind experiences.“By partnering with AMC and the incredibly successful The Walking Dead series, we’re bringing together two of the most passionate fan bases in the country.
“We’re excited to give fans the opportunity to collect limited edition Mountain Dew products featuring iconic show characters, and unlock new walkers each week with the augmented reality app.”
