Freedom Brands has introduced a new brand of toasted coconut chips, an innovative new snacking option available in three different flavours.
Nudie Snacks’ salt and vinegar, Thai sweet chilli, and salt and sweet-flavoured snacks are billed as “a healthy, all-natural alternative to traditional potato crisps, with a third less of the carbohydrates and three times the fibre”. The product is available in a 35g bag with a recommended retail price of £1.29, and the company has plans to release an additional four-count multipack.
The brand has said that the versatile range has also been designed for baking, lending a coconut kick to biscuits and cakes or topping porridge for breakfast or ice cream for dessert. The new format retains the nutritional benefit of coconut meat, which is full of potassium and fibre, as well as medium-chain fatty acids.
The new coconut chips are free from artificial flavourings and preservatives, and both vegan- and vegetarian-friendly. The innovation extends Freedom Brand’s existing Go Coco line of coconut water, which is already available in three different packaging formats.
Nudie Snacks directors Tracey Hogarth and Ross Currie said: “We are delighted to be first to market with an innovative snacking idea. The feedback has been tremendous as the coconut trend continues to dominate food and drink with coconut water, coconut oil and the like, it only seemed natural for us to continue the good work of Go Coco coconut water and develop a healthy snack brand that was aligned to our vision of health and wellbeing and this was a natural extension for us.”
