The investment will support the introduction of a new production line at Leicester potato crisps such as the Red Sky and Walkers Extra Crunchy varieties, according to the company.
First established in Leicester in 1982, the Walkers site, situated in the Beaumont Leys area of the city, employs over 2,000 people.
In the past year Walkers has employed over 300 people from the Leicester area to help boost the production team.
Rebecca Ransford, manufacturing manager at PepsiCo, said: “We have an impressive track record of people working at the site over many decades – in fact, some of our most recently retired colleagues have racked up a phenomenal 800 years of collective service.
“As we say a fond farewell to these colleagues, we look forward to welcoming new joiners and encourage people of all backgrounds and experience to apply for our roles.”
